Granger Medical Clinic Case Study

Granger Medical Clinic

Profile

Granger Medical Clinic is the largest privately owned Multi-specialty group in Utah. Serving the residents of Salt Lake County in 4 locations with 20 specialties and over 60 physicians. Established in 1954 Granger Medical Clinic is always the forefront in adapting to the newest technologies to increase efficiency and quality of care to its patients.

Challenge

Granger Medical Clinic found themselves using an in-house hosted hardware and software that required costly upgrades to fix Y2K issues. These issues were quickly degrading the function and reliability of their data. Not wanting to be put in the same situation at a later date they started looking for a company that would host and update the software on a continual basis.

Keeping all employees following consistent procedures across multiple locations was proving difficult for the clinic. They also wished to implement the newest technologies but were unable to integrate the pieces to make them work efficiently together.

Solution

MedPrime, Med USA's on-line software held immediate advantages for Granger Medical Clinic. As an on-line software MedPrime is hosted, updated and maintained by Med USA.

Med USA also offered adaptability in the software itself. Agreeing to create interfaces with other technology such as an EMR. Also, offering to customize programming in the software to fit Granger's individual needs.

Results

Med USA has been able to create multiple interfaces to work with an EMR package that refused to make any program changes. This allowed for seamless integration that makes two separate technologies to work together through automation. This created more time for staff to focus on the patients.

Through additional programming changes Med USA has created specialized reporting, appointment verification processes and even user specific security access to sensitive areas of the software. This has allowed for Granger to maintain consistent procedures across multiple locations and numerous staff.

Med USA also suggested a hardware and networking affiliate that is very familiar with the MedPrime setup, system requirements and in this particular clinic's arrangement. Because of their overlapping experience with MedPrime, Med USA staff and the clinic, technology upgrades and additions are done easily with very few complications.

However, most advantageous to Granger Medical Clinic has been the reliability, adaptability and willingness of Med USA to customize the software to their individual needs.
